During the launch of BioMalaysia & Asia Pacific Bioeconomy 2017, three Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreements worth over RM93 million were exchanged. The MoUs aims to further strengthen the trade and cooperation in the fields of bioeconomy between Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) and Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation, BioNexus companies, universities, healthcare companies and retail companies.
The MoUs involved the Rural Asset Group of Companies and Oudhcorn LLC, University Putra Malaysia and Malaysian Vaccines & Pharmaceuticals Sdn Bhd as well as Algaetech International and Watson Malaysia.
Secretary General of MOSTI, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Azhar Haji Yahaya says: “The MoUs is a strategic platform for Malaysian companies to bring their bio innovations to the world. MOSTI’s presence at BioMalaysia 2017 will be centred on showcasing Malaysia’s best practices and innovations in bio-based technology. It also aims to attract investments from institutions and companies around the Asia Pacific region.
With the theme ‘Driving Growth and Prosperity of the Nation’, BioMalaysia 2017 will have speakers from the Government, NGOs and private sectors offering specialised knowledge sharing, business networking and partnership programmes for international and local biotechnology industry players.
During the week, there were talks, product demonstrations and business matching sessions that aim to disseminate information on current Science, Technology & Innovation efforts in the bio-based industry and provide a platform for Malaysian bio-based companies, entrepreneurs, scientists and graduates. This allows participants to tap into the vast experience, knowledge and innovation within the ecosystem while providing necessary support for business development activities in bringing investments to Malaysia.
