Close to 300 children were given an opportunity to play doctor for a day at Sunway Medical Centre.
Malaysia’s first ever Toyspital was organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Medics International Ireland (MMII) and the Malaysian Medics International Malaysia (MMIM). This is Sunway Medical Centre’s efforts in familiarising children with healthcare, using role play to remove their fears of visits to hospitals.
Children from three orphanages (Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Rumah Nur Sakinah and Ractar Orphanage) and a private kindergarten (Blooming Tots House) attended the Toyspital. They were invited to bring their own teddy bears / plush toys and were asked to treat and diagnose their ‘patients’.
With the help of seven planned medical stations and commonly used medical instruments, children can also use their imaginations based on their own experiences at the doctor’s office. The little doctors and patients made their way through stations including Nutrition, Scanning and Imaging, First Aid, Surgery, Exercise, Dental and Consultation.
